This week’s subject sounds a bit serious, but it’s also very true. The speaker is originally from Australia but based out of YWAM in Hong Kong. I won’t mention any of the speakers’ name in my blogs because some of them are still serving in unreached countries.
Our speaker was a very kind yet powerful woman. For me, it’s very important to know about spiritual warfare as a Christian. We desire to know the truth, but we also want to keep standing in the truth. To do this, sometimes we need to fight. But before starting a fight, the most important thing is we need to do is to “see” it. We need the understanding from God, and to also know his character. Hearing God’s voice is a good way to understand Him and all situations around us. So we need to build a relationship with God first. The voice we heard can come from three different places, God, ourselves, and the enemy. I like the example that the speaker gave us. It’s like when you answer a call from an unknown phone number. If it’s one of your close friend’s voice, you will immediately recognize them. But if it’s from someone you are not very familiar with, you may need to ask them who they are. It’s the same with God. The deeper of a relationship you have with God, the more you can recognize His voice.
On the last day of lectures, our speaker went through and prayed for us all individually. As she prayed for me, I could feel God removing the fear of resources in my mind and the fear of being rejected from my past experience.
Friday afternoon came again and with it, our evangelism time. This time I was with my school leader. We followed the Holy Spirit and talked to three different people. The third person was a middle age guy. We said hello to him as we walked by, but then my school leader felt that we needed to talk to him. So we went back and started to chat with him. As we talked, we found out he was Christian from New Zealand. My school leader was able to encourage the man by telling him what God was wanting to say to him. He also prayed for him. I could see that the man was very touched. Then, I felt God tell me to ask him if he knew what the meaning of his name was and then to tell him that his name represented him very well. He told us that the meaning of his name was of a root going very deep into the land, which is a very good meaning. But because some of his family members who had the same name were very violent, he had started to have negative thoughts about his name. He began to want to have his name changed. Through it all, he still loves God. He brings bibles everywhere when he travels. He also told us that he hasn’t read the bible for two weeks, and hasn’t gone to church for years because he was hurt by the church. An injustice happened to his friend and he hit the pastor. I can’t say who was right or wrong here. Through today’s conversation, I could feel heavenly Father’s heart for him. It’s very deep love.
This week we started practicing for our second fundraising event. This event is called “Jacob’s Ladder”. We went to a place where there is a staircase with 242 steps and therefore people have name it “Jacob’s Ladder” . The name basically came from the bible:
Genesis 28:10-12
10 Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Harran. 11 When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. 12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
We are trying to train and improve our fitness as much as we can before we go on outreach. We will hold this event in about two weeks . I am aiming to go up and down the stairs 9 times during the one and a half hours. Please sponsor me :-).
If for every round I do, you would donate a certain amount, it would make a real difference to my fundraising and help me reach my goal of going on outreach and bringing the Gospel to the nations. I will post how many rounds I do during the fundraiser, after the event. Please send me a private message on Facebook or leave a comment on this blog so I can thank you for your support and update you.
